Tangradi Returns To Penguins

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Rookie forward Eric Tangradi has returned to the Pittsburgh Penguins barely 12 hours after being demoted to Wheeling of the ECHL.

Tangradi was expected to play on the Penguins' second line with Evgeni Malkin and Mike Comrie during Thursday's opener against Philadelphia.

The Penguins apparently demoted Tangradi on Wednesday so they could open a roster spot for forward Arron Asham, who is recovering from a shoulder injury. When the Penguins determined Asham wasn't ready to play, they brought back Tangradi.

Tangradi was sent to Wheeling because it is only an hour's drive away from Pittsburgh, thus allowing Tangradi to return quickly.
