PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An undercover police officer was injured overnight during a chase and crash on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

It happened just before 1 a.m. at Beaver Avenue and Chateau Street on the North Side.

Other officers pursued the driver after the crash and say that someone inside threw a gun out of the car.

Eventually, police called off the chase because of safety concerns.

The vehicle was recovered, unoccupied on Searles Way in Pittsburgh’s Perry South neighborhood.

There is still no word on the injured officer’s condition or what caused the crash.

Police have not made any arrests in connection with the chase.
