Pastor Resigns After Taking Parish Funds

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A local pastor resigned Saturday after admitting to taking funds from his parish.

According to a press release, Bishop David Zubik has accepted the resignation of Father Francis J. Drabiska.

Father Drabiska had served as pastor at the Word of God Parish in Pittsburgh for 16 years.

"It has become clear through careful review of parish finances by diocesan auditors that funds have been misappropriated in some fashion from Word of God. As is our policy in such cases, the information gathered is being turned over to civil authorities. Father Drabiska acknowledged that he took funds and subsequently resigned as pastor," Bishop Zubik said.

Bishop Zubik has appointed Father John Lynam as Administrator of Word of God Parish in addition to his responsibilities as Madonna del Castello Parish in Pittsburgh.
