NFLPA Counters 18-Game Schedule Proposal

The NFL has already proposed that 18-game schedules be included in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, but the NFLPA has countered that proposal.

The Players Association would like two bye weeks and larger rosters to offset the added grind of an 18-game schedule.

Currently, NFL rosters are allowed a maximum of 53 players, but the NFLPA would like to add at least four or five more spots.

A person speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the union's counter proposal includes a larger practice squad and a reduction of offseason workouts.

The current CBA expires in March and there are fears of a potential lockout because of a number of issues including, an 18-game schedule, health care  and a reduction in revenue sharing.

NFL owners will meet again in Dallas in mid-December, but there are no scheduled negotiations between the owners and Players Association at this time.
