Reed Clears Waivers, Turns Down 2 Offers

By Mike Zappone

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Jeff Reed will not be wearing an NFL uniform this weekend.

Reed’s agent Donald Henderson tells KDKA-TV the former Steelers placekicker received calls from three different NFL teams shortly after clearing waivers at 4 p.m.

Henderson wouldn’t name the interested teams, but he said two of the calls included offers that were turned down by Reed.

KDKA-TV Sports has confirmed that one of the teams that offered Reed a contract was the Cincinnati Bengals.

At this point, the plan is for Reed to work out on his own and take the weekend off.

After this weekend’s games, Reed and his representatives plan to re-evaluate the kicking situation around the league before fielding new offers from interested teams.

Real mature, Marty Griffin. What say you about all of those accolades BP has posted on the district’s site? I wish Reed all the best because despite his personal problems. He does have talent as a kicker.

I heard the teams are after him cause he can really tackle. Even Gary Anderson would trip the runner to save a touch down

Oh God, now Gary Anderson is a legendary tackler. GET OVER IT, KICKERS DO NOT TACKLE!

Say what you will about Reed and his off the field behavior but the guy deserved more than being kicked out mid-season. Nice call Tomlin. I can’t wait to see him beat the steeler later this season with another team.
Keep trotting Willie Gay out there and cut the kicker. Low rent move.
