Police Want Phone Records Of Franklin Regional Teacher

MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- No criminal charges have been filed in the case yet, but, there are some new details in the investigation of a local social studies teacher who allegedly sent inappropriate "sexting" messages to a boy.

The teacher, Terrence Flaherty, of Penn Hills, has been suspended with pay for the time being. No one was at his home in Penn Hills Monday night when KDKA-TV went there.

At the request of Murrysville Police, a district magistrate signed a search warrant, giving authorities the green light to examine Flaherty's personal cellular phone records.

Specifically, they're interested in two alleged November 13th text messages in which he reportedly offered money to a youth for a picture of his privates and asked the boy to join an orgy.

"I see kids go to his [Flaherty's] home, and each time, I cringe," One of Flaherty's Penn Hills neighbors, Shawn O'Mahony, told KDKA-TV.

There is no word on when police will wrap up their Flaherty investigation.
