Man Facing Charges After Shots Fired At Police Car, Ambulance

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Moon Township police have filed charges against an Evans City man in connection with shots being fired at a police cruiser and ambulance overnight.

Authorities say Ryan McCleary is facing several charges including reckless endangerment, aggravated assault and criminal mischief.

According to investigators, a Moon Township police officer radioed headquarters around 11:45 p.m. that he had just had his passenger-side, front window shot out. An ambulance was hit as well.

Officials say it happened as the vehicles passed the 900-block of Broadhead Road.

Police say they questioned three men who were in a house on Broadhead Road, but only made one arrest.

They believe the shots came from a small caliber weapon and have not ruled out a BB gun.

"We are currently securing a search warrant to search the house and we are looking for definitely a small caliber type weapon. It could even be a BB gun that we are looking for, but it definitely is going to be a small caliber. It was enough to penetrate and break the window and it was enough to damage the door on the ambulance," said Sgt. Douglas Busch, of the Moon Township Police Department. "I don't want to rule out it could be something more than a BB gun, but it's definitely going to be something very small caliber."

McCleary is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
