Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette called into the Fan Morning Show for his weekly spot following the Steelers win against the Buffalo Bills in overtime. Bouchette thinks Mike Tomlin will move on after this win and begin to focus on Baltimore next week.
Bouchette talked about the poor performance of the Steelers offensive line, with five sacks and six holding penalties against the Bills. He thinks there might be a trend with the officials to call more holding penalties after comments following the Oakland game.
Bouchette doesn’t think there are many ways to fix the problems with the offensive line because of all the injuries the Steelers have racked up. However one bright spot for the offensive line was the 100-plus yard rushing game for Rashard Mendenhall even though it was against the 32nd ranked rush defense in the NFL.
With the injury to Bryant McFadden, Bouchette is a little suspect of the depth at cornerback and the secondary, but thinks William Gay can step into that role.
Finally Bouchette addresses the James Harrison hit and doesn’t necessarily agree that his hit was a personal foul, but thinks the officials are looking more closely at Harrison during the game.
