Non-Profit Group Robbed During Meeting In Wilkinsburg

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- Six members of a non-profit group holding a meeting in Wilkinsburg were robbed by two men – one of them armed with a gun.

The robbery occurred just after 8 p.m. Wednesday in the South Trenton Avenue offices of the 9-Mile Run Watershed Association.

The group was holding a committee meeting when two men walked in through the unlocked front door. The man with the gun was wearing a hood and a mask over his face, according to Brenda Smith, the group's executive director.

Smith says while the armed suspect stood at one end of the table, his partner went around emptying wallets and purses of all cash. No shots were fired.

Smith told KDKA-TV the whole thing lasted no more than a couple of minutes. She was disappointed by what happened, but was relieved nobody was hurt.

Smith said her members had always felt safe in Wilkinsburg until now.
