Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette Breaks Down Ben’s Broken Foot

Steelers beat writer for the Post-Gazette and Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN Steelers Insider Ed Bouchette joined Joe Starkey of Seibel and Starkey to discuss Ben Roethlisberger’s broken foot and what it means for the teams matchup with the Ravens on Sunday night.

Despite the team trying to say it isn’t a broken foot, Ed told Joe that Ben does have a broken bone in his foot and it’s the fifth metatarsal.  According to Ed, this is a usual practice of the team in that they have been vague about injuries the last few years now.

If Ben is unable to go, Ed discussed who will be the Steelers backup, and it’s not who many people would think.  Byron Leftwich was brought in to be Ben’s backup, and if he cannot go, Leftwich will take his place.

Joe wrapped things up with Ed by asking him for his prediction of Sunday’s rivalry game with the Ravens.  Ed said he doesn’t expect the Steelers to be able to run the ball or protect Ben and that it will most likely be a low scoring game.

    Leftwich is needed to win

Bet the Farm!!! The Ravens are going to obliterate the Steelers on Sunday Night! Ben can’t move in the pocket. So, when he holds the ball too long the Raven;s D will get to him. The Steeler’s Offensive Coordinator will be too confused to make adjustments.

Mr. PatchHead, Ben had 50 yards rushing a couple weeks ago, so your comment about not being able to move in the pocket is uneducated and wrong.

      • patch484

Chris, that was a couple of weeks ago. Let me educate you about this week, in case you have not heard, BEN HAS A BROKEN FOOT! I imagine you have been on the wrong side of too many helmet to helmet hits. Keep com’n back.

I believe in Ben. We need him to win. This game is so important. It’s probably going to be one of the most important games this season.

  • whiskey6

he will be sacked 7 times. remember this post.

  • redrock100

keep dreaming. the steelers are the worst 8-3 team in nfl history.

    • Blitzburgh

There must have been some really great 8-3 teams then. If they win Sunday, they will be considered one of the best teams in the league.

      • redrock100

You are right. I’m an idiot. I don’t know what I was thinking. I know the Steelers are probably the best team out there. The only team that could possibly give them problems is the Jets. Sorry Blitzburgh, I was just venting because my Ravens totally suck. We are probably going to lose Sunday and I was just being stupid.

i have broke the same bone, i was in a cast for 6 weeks

How about we just play smashmouth football and leave the media out of it. I’m sure the players agree…just play football. Everyone is tired of hearing the Steelers comment about the Harrison fines and Bens foot injury. who cares…play football and do the talking on the field Sunday night. Go get em Steelers!!

  • pengufan

We need BATCH to start if Ben can’t… not Byron L. He isn’t half the QB Batch is and Charlie was proving he could get it done during Ben’s suspension. I just don’t understand the Steelers sitting a man that time and time again proves his worth on this team.

  • Jeremy

Wow people are haters. Pittsburghers want to suck dry ALL the information possible about everything going on in Steelers/Penguins/Pirates news, myself included. So what’s wrong with KDKA reporting on this? It gives us more information, and just makes the game more anticipating. Comon’ people stop being so negative. GO STEELERS!

      Jeremy is a dumb yinzer.

I personally think Ben just needs to get off the team. It’s just about every game we have to hear about ben having something wrong with him. Since they got rid of Reed, let just get rid of Ben and the steelers can do so much better with out him!!! Just what i think…. And i think Ben should have been out of the game for the season after being on the news for what he claims he didn’t do, instead they didn’t let him play for a few games!!!

To the person two posts above me – I’m proud to be from Pittsburgh.

I’m also happy that I have a team that’s good, so that I don’t have to go on the news sites of other cities teams and insult them and their funs just because MY city (most likely Cleveland or Cincinnati) sucks really bad. So insult me all you want. You know Pittsburgh is better.
