Train Accident Leaves 1 Dead In Westmoreland Co.

SMITHTON (KDKA) – One person is dead following an accident involving a train in Westmoreland County Sunday morning.

Emergency officials say the train hit a pedestrian around 10 a.m. near a railroad crossing along Route 981 in Smithton.

State police say a girl was walking west on the tracks when she failed to move out of way.

Officials have not released her identity.
