Students Return To Class In Bethel Park

BETHEL PARK (KDKA) – Students in the Bethel Park School District are returning to the classroom today.

Teachers in the school district have been on strike for the last six weeks.

The 391 members of the Bethel Park Federation of Teachers hit the picket lines back in October after 10 months of talks with the district.

Teachers have been working without a contract since the beginning of July.

Because state law requires them to return to work, the teachers are ending their walkout today, but there is still no new contract.

The dispute now goes to mandatory, non-binding arbitration.

The next negotiating session is tentatively set for Wednesday.

ridiculous! These students are pretty much going to have to repeat the same grade next year. How can they possibly be prepared for their PSSA’s let alone be ready to move on for the next school year!! Be thankful for your job! Most people have been laid off their unemployment has ended. Settle this already!!
