Memorial Fund Set Up In Honor Of Basketball Coach

McCANDLESS (KDKA) – Funeral plans have been made and a memorial fund has been set up as the La Roche College community continues to grieve the loss of their beloved basketball coach.

Head coach Scott Lang collapsed during practice Friday evening and later passed away at a nearby hospital.

A memorial service has been planned for Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. in Kerr Fitness Center on the college’s campus.

Visitation will then be held on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon. The funeral service will then be held at noon at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in the North Hills.

Lang was in his 14th year as head coach at La Roche.

    Coach Lang was a great man, friend, and coach to me and all of his players. We all will miss you Coach!

    My son played for Coach Lang for the last years. A man of true Christian character and integrity. He impacted so many in his short time here. We are all better people for knowing him. God Bless your parents Coach for raising such a fine son.

    Scott was a friend of my sister’s growing up. I remeber me being in 1 st grade and him being in 5th i had a hard time adjusting to new school and he would come to my classroom with my sister to see how i was doing. He was a great person even as a child. He will not be forgotten. We love you Scott!!
