Reports: Haywood Hired At Pitt

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - A week after getting rid of Dave Wannstedt, it looks like Pitt has hired their next head football coach.

Multiple media outlets are reporting that Miami University of Ohio head coach Michael Haywood will be the next head coach of the Pitt Panthers. He has reportedly signed a five-year deal.

Haywood was reportedly on campus Tuesday and interviewed with Pitt.

Here's some background on Haywood:

He's in his second season as coach at Miami, Ohio. In his first season, he went 1-11, but rebounded to go an impressive 9-4, winning the MAC Conference.

The 46-year-old has experience at some big-time football schools. Prior to becoming head coach at Miami of Ohio, Haywood was offensive coordinator at Notre Dame (2005-08).
