Water Main Break Damages Homes

STANTON HEIGHTS (KDKA) -- A large water main break has been causing problems for some residents in the Stanton Heights section of the city.

According to one homeowner, the break happened around 7:15 a.m. in the 100-block of Schenley Manor Drive, sending water gushing into the street for nearly an hour and a half.

Water flooded the basement of 134 Schenley Manor Drive and rushed down hill into several other nearby homes along Oranmore Street.

In addition to water damage, the pressure even knocked out a basement window in at least one house.

One neighbor told KDKA that a water company representative said a main line burst.

Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority confirmed that a 6-inch line ruptured along Millerdale Street.

According to PSWA, "Residents between Schenley Manor Drive and the dead end of Millerdale Street may experience low pressure and possible interruption of service."

All repairs are expected to be completed by 4 p.m.
