Benefit Show Raises Funds For Kids In Need

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Children’s Hospital and KDKA joined forces Thursday for the annual Free Care Fund benefit show to help children in need of medical care.

The 57th annual telethon ran throughout the evening with live reports from Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville.

The Free Care Fund guarantees that no area child will be denied medical care due to a lack of funds, fulfilling a promise Children’s Hospital made to the community more than 100 years ago.

This year, the benefit show raised more than $1.5 million.

Thanks so much to all who pitched in.

Missed last night’s telecast and wished to donate this morning but all the links in this news report are broken….my browser reports that they cannot be located. Does anyone have information on donation to this? Thanks, Bill

I think it was much better when this show was on Sunday night. Growing up I remember decorating the tree as a family with The Childrens Hospital Show on the TV. KDKA Radio would broadcast for a week each in the windows of Gimbel’s, Horne’s, and Kaufmann’s and my parents or grandmother would take me to make a contribution and receive a Farkleberry cookie.
