Penn State Begins Big Ten Play With Win Over IU

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (KDKA/AP) — Penn State began Big Ten play with a 69-60 win over the Indiana Hoosiers on Monday night snapping a two-game losing streak.

The Nittany Lions entered the game as the worst shooting team in the in the Big Ten, but Jeff Brooks had a career-best effort.

Penn State began the game hitting 7 of 10 shots from the field, including four straight three pointers. PSU built a 25-11 lead halfway through the first half. Indiana was trailing the whole game, but with 8:46 left in the second half, they took the lead 48-47 on a Maurice Creek layup.

After the Hoosiers took the lead, Brooks answered back to give Penn State the lead for good. Brooks finished the game with 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Penn State's Talor Battle added 19 points and six rebounds to the win.

Indiana has lost three straight and saw its nine-game home winning streak come to an end.
