Pitt, PSU Beat Writers Break Down The Pitt Coaching Search

Pitt Beat Writer Paul Zeise and Penn St. Beat Writer Ron Musselman, both of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, talked to John Seibel of Seibel and Starkey on Sportsradio 93-7 The FAN to discuss the Pitt Head Coaching search and Tom Bradley’s candidacy.

Paul Zeise said at this moment, Pitt does not have their guy, but that’s not to say that they haven’t identified who they want for the job.  The search this time around is very different than the first search which brought in Michael Haywood.  Paul also added that the search committee is now made up of more members of the University of Pittsburgh than just Athletic Director Steve Pederson.

When it comes to the reported leading candidate for the job, Tom Bradley, Ron Musselman told us that you don’t have to look any farther than the last three to four years at Penn St. to see what kind of offensive philosophy he would bring to Pitt since he has been running the Penn St. program over that period of time.  If Bradley were to get the Head Coaching job at Pitt, Ron believes that he will bring multiple Penn St. assistants with him, which will shake up that program as well.  Ron’s gut feeling on Bradley is that he has coached his last game at Penn St., whether that means he gets the job at Pitt or UCONN, we’ll have to wait and see.

im a pitt fan for years i think they better grab tom bradley before conn does put pedersons animosity aside hire the best man.

    • steve

Hiring Tom Bradley could help Pitt in many such as recuiting he could sway players to come to Pitt rather than going to Ohio State or WVU. Bradley knows Western Pa.

  • tom

lets get bradley hired so we don,t lose ththe ones that are already said they changing their minds about coming to pitt & maybe keep lewis and hanoski from going pro

  • Fire Pederson Now

    I don’t have a problem with Bradley
But Pitt can only come back from its national embarrassment over the past month
if we hire a good (not cheap) head coach, allow the new head coach to hire his assistants, and pay them, and

    • Why hasn't Pederson been fired?

      I couldn’t agree more
If Pederson is around in March when the season ticket renewals come out
mine is going in the trash
and Pederson and the Chancellor can sit in an empty Heinz Field together

Mark May demanded that Pederson hire Rich Rod immediately after he was fired from Michigan; does Mark also want Rich Rod’s defensive coordinator?
