HILL DISTRICT (KDKA) – One person was killed and another was injured in an early Sunday morning shooting in the Hill District.

According to our news partners at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, a man and woman were shot in the 200-block of Lombard Street around 2:15 a.m.

Ronald Washington, 25, was fatally wounded and was pronounced dead at UPMC Mercy Hospital shortly before 6 a.m.

The woman has been identified as 20-year-old Chanel Hopkins. She was shot in both thighs and her left wrist, but is expected to survive.

The two victims were in the back of a car that stopped to talk to two black males. For reasons unknown, one of the males pulled out a gun and began shooting at the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene and drove to the hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pittsburgh Homicide Squad at (412)-323-7161.

Perhaps if the three officers who are on suspension had been allowed to work just maybe the gun used in the homicide would have been taken off the street. You do not want officers who enforce the gun laws in your neighborhood. This is the result. Sorry someone was killed but if you want effective police protection you should support your officers and not attempt to have them fired.

no officer has a specific duty to save a life. read the handbook. w/ or without those three officers YOU could get shot- your hero’s will show up say… 5-20 minutes later & you’re done.

Daniel, seriously. A man was wrongfully beat to death and there are plenty of other officers out there. They can’t stand in front of every person, every time so stop making this argument in any and every post that has to do with police officers. We get it, you either are, or know one of the officers on leave right now, but oh well. They did something unecessary and they have to suffer, just like the boy they beat up. Deal.

FixPGH, you really are a walking billboard for adult abortions. We, the taxpayers, are paying for three officers who made a major difference in stopping violent crimes and taking illegal guns off the street to sit at home instead of protecting us. These officers were investigating, by the Feds, the DA, the city and all found no wrong doing. Personally I think Miles deserves another beating for originally lying about what happened. He did finally admit, during his lie detector test, the three did identify themselves, which is why the officers were cleared of wrong doing. However that issue has been beat to death. The point is you and others complain about response time(refer to Spit’s comments) but don’t realize, or care, how under manned the police force is. Pittsburgh has more Chiefs than the NYPD, D.C. PD, and LAPD. That’s ridiculous. NYPD has 42000 police officers and Pittsburgh has less than 875. Eliminate some of those spots and you could hire a minimum of 3 officers for each one eliminated. It will never happen though because in this liberal, democrat system in place in pittsburgh and allegheny county has to keep those spots to have some way to repay their political
backers. That’s why these spots exist. It certainly isn’t because these people earned those positions. Half of them can’t speak without chewing on their tongues and embarrassing the entire dept and others have 30 years on the force and have never made an arrest. But a liberal like you probably sees nothing wrong with that.

The truth

This is a tragedy. I can’t wait until tomorrow when Tim Stevens, BPEP and their supporters, march down to the City County building and tell the Mayor to do something about this violence. Oh, excuse me. That is only when a white Police Officer is accused of misconduct. But if anyone hears when the next “Stop the violence March” is scheduled please post it on this web site. I want to join the 5 elderly church women and the dozen or so thugs with their pants pulled down below the butt walking around holding candles. That has worked so very well in the past…

Daniel

I agree with the statement about Tim Stevens. He is a disgrace to all involved. I am certainly not a racist either. TIm Stevens should resign in shame if you ask me. He should teach our youth to respect our police officers, not march against them.
