LIU Beats RMU 83-67

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA/AP) — The Robert Morris Colonials ended their three game winning streak with last night’s 83-67 loss to Long Island University.

RMU held a 33-31 lead at halftime, but the Colonials could not hold off a second-half run from the Blackbirds. LIU had two scoring drives of 11-3 and 14-2 to put away the Colonials. The first scoring drive was with 9:47 remaining and the second was with 5:51 left in the game.

The win avenged LIU’s 70-69 loss to Robert Morris back on Dec. 2.

LIU junior Michael Culpo led his team with 19 points. Culpo received help from sophomore forward Jamal Olasewere with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Velton Jones had 14 points; Russell Johnson added 11 and Anthony Myers had 10 for the Colonials (8-10, 4-3).

The win gave LIU their eight straight win and sixth straight conference win.
