La Roche Names Court In Honor Of Late Coach

McCANDLESS (KDKA) - La Roche College paid tribute to their late head basketball coach Saturday afternoon as the small college community renamed their gym's court after him.

Back in December, Scott Lang, 41, collapsed during a team practice and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he passed away.

Lang was in his 14th year as head coach at La Roche.

The ceremony was held this afternoon to dedicate the Coach Scott Lang Court, just before the men's basketball game against Hilbert College.

"Scott truly loved every single thing that he did here," said Mary Ellen Dickson, Lang's mother. "He just loved this place, and every opportunity that he was given to move somewhere else, he couldn't tear himself away from the fact that La Roche is an awesome place and he was surrounded by great people."

Lang holds the school record for wins and led the Redhawks to their first conference championship in school history in 2004.
