Listeria Concerns Prompt Bagged Salad Recall

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Concerns over listeria contamination have prompted a voluntary recall of a number of bagged salad products.

So far, there have been no reports of illnesses, but Giant Food Stores and Martin's Food Markets, including one in Fayette County, have announced the recall of the organic bagged salad items by Nature's Promise.

Officials say all the affected products have the "best if used by date" of Jan. 15, 2011.

Here's a list of the products under recall:

  • 68826704943 - Nature's Promise Organic Baby Arugula - 7 oz.
  • 68826703907 - Nature's Promise Organic Baby Romaine - 7 oz.
  • 68826703906 - Nature's Promise Organic Baby Spinach 7 oz. to 7 oz.
  • 68826708895 - Nature's Promise Organic Fresh Baby Spinach - 16 oz.
  • 68826712356 - Nature's Promise Organic Caesar Salad w/ Caesar Supreme Dressing & Fork - 5.5 oz.
  • 68826708641 - Nature's Promise Organic Baby Spinach and Spring Mix - 7 oz.
  • 68826708896 - Nature's Promise Organic Spring Mix - 16 oz.
  • 68826710423 - Nature's Promise Organic Spring Mix with Herbs - 7 oz.
  • 68826708640 - Nature's Promise Organic Sweet Baby Lettuce - 7 oz.
  • 68826712354 - Nature's Promise Organic Spring Mix w/ Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing and Fork 3 oz. to 3 oz.
  • 68826712355 - Nature's Promise Baby Spinach w/Ranch Dressing and Fork - 3.5 oz.

Anyone who brought the products is advised to throw them away and take the receipt back to the store for a refund.
