Quinnipiac Beats Robert Morris 69-61

HAMDEN, Conn. (KDKA/AP) — Quinnipiac senior guard James Johnson led the Bobcats (13-7, 5-4) to a 69-61 win over Robert Morris University on Thursday night.

Johnson scored a career high 38 points in 37 minutes to snap the teams three-game losing streak. Johnson was 7-13 from behind the 3 point line and pulled down eight rebounds.

The only other Bobcat in double digit scoring was guard Deontay Twyman, who added 14 points.

Ike Azotam grabbed 11 rebounds and Justin Rutty had 10 for the Bobcats, who out-rebounded the Colonials 43-37.

The Colonials (9-11, 5-4) were led by guard Velton Jones. Jones scored 18 points, 14 of those coming from the free throw line.

Karon Abraham added 10 points and Russell Johnson added nine.

Next up for the Colonials will be the (8-12) Sacred Heart Pioneers on the road this Saturday.
