City To Hold Steeler Pride Events

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Super Bowl week is here and the city has some exciting things planned for fans.

On Thursday, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl and County Executive Dan Onorato will host a "Shred the Packers" pep rally at Forbes Avenue and Ross Street downtown.

The event begins at noon and Myron Cope's daughter will be there to lead a Terrible Towel wave.

There will also be contests for best signs, best player lookalike and best Steelers apparel.

Later in the week, an official Steelers tailgate party will be held.

Stage AE on the North Shore will host the event. The doors open at 4 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday and admission is free.

Local restaurants are also catching Super Bowl fever and are showing their support of the black and gold.

There's no room for cheese at Six Penn Kitchen this week. The regular cheese plate is being switched for the "Pittsburgh Pride Plate," featuring kielbasa and kraut, Heinz ketchup and pierogies.
