Fighting Illini Beat Penn State 68-51

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (KDKA/AP) — Senior forward Mike Davis helped lead Illinois (15-7, 5-4) to a 68-51 win over Penn State on Tuesday night.

Davis scored 22 points and pulled down seven rebounds. He scored seven straight points in the second half to give Illinois a 13 point lead with 10 minutes to go.

Bill Cole and D.J. Richardson both added 10 points for the Illini.

After a win over No. 19 Wisconsin, Penn State couldn't find their rhythm. The Nittany Lions shot just 33 percent from the field and 11 percent from behind the three-point line.

Penn State lost senior forward Jeff Brooks just before halftime to a dislocated right shoulder.

Tim Frazier and Talor Battle had 12 points each for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State's next five games will be against Big Ten opponents, including No. 18 Minnesota and No. 19 Wisconsin.
