PITCAIRN (KDKA) — Crews battled an intense fire that burned for at least half an hour in Pitcairn.

Right now, the fire marshal is on the scene investigating cause.

This happened around 4 p.m. in the 600-block of Third Street.

The fire appears to have started on the third floor of the home and spread to the lower levels.

The fire chief says one woman was home at the time and called for help after she smelled smoke.

She was out of the home by the time emergency crews arrived.

Fire officials say seven people lived in the home, which was an older structure made out of wood.
