Fatal Pedestrian Accident Stuns Community

NEW BRIGHTON (KDKA) - A man was killed and his daughter was injured after they were hit while crossing a street in Beaver County Monday.

It was a shock for neighbors to learn that Robert Lancos, 67, was killed in the accident. He was hit by a pickup truck while crossing 3rd Avenue in New Brighton with his daughter, 44-year-old Susan Miller.

"Just an awesome guy. He'd come over here in the summer time and hang out with my husband,"

According to New Brighton Area Police, 24-year-old Richard Disney was driving the pickup truck that hit the pair.

Another driver said he stopped to let them cross, but the other truck kept going.

"We stopped to let them cross the street and this truck came flying up," Frank Helisek said. "It spun her around and carried him up about 50 mph on the hood of his car."

Louise Rankin got the tragic phone call from Lancos' brother. She's been neighbors and friends with Lancos for about 40 years.

"It's not going to sink in until we don't see him coming up on his lawnmower up to your driveway or parked in front of your driveway," Rankin said.

Rankin and other neighbors said Lancos was there whenever needed. On Tuesday, Rankin went to his house to clear the snow off his driveway as a final favor.

The investigation is still ongoing and Disney has not been charged at this time.
