Snow, Rain Causes Messy Commute

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) - Overnight rain and snow is making for a slower Tuesday morning commute.

The latest round of winter weather started out as rain Monday afternoon. As temperatures dropped into the evening hours, the rain changed into snow.

The earlier rain froze to the roadways in some places and left many people's cars cased in ice Tuesday morning.

In Cranberry Township, the intersection of Routes 19 and 228 were improving around 7 a.m., but were still slushy.

As a result of the weather, many area schools are operating under a two-hour delay. Click here for the complete list.

Drivers are being urged to drive slow while on the roads Tuesday morning.

PennDOT crews in Butler County are operating under 12-hour shifts to keep the roads as clear as possible.
