Analyst: 18 Game Schedule Is Negotiable

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) senior NFL writer Clark Judge joined the FAN Morning Show to offer an update on the collective bargaining talks between the league and the owners.

Judge is expecting a lockout come March 4, but he doesn’t necessarily think games will be missed.

Throughout this process, Commissioner Roger Goodell has continually said the league wants to expand the regular season to 18 games. Judge spoke with the league’s lead negotiator Jeff Pash at the Super Bowl and he said the 18-game schedule is definitely negotiable.

If the NFL has a work stoppage and misses games, Judge doesn’t think the league will lose many fans because the game is to popular.

You might be suprised how quick fans can turn on a sport. With all the money fans spend , they don’t expect bumps in the road as far as games go. Look at how quick class action suits appeared after the superbowl over seats. It’s in the best interest for everyone if this is put to rest quickly.I love the sport, I understand both sides, but it’s about the fans and the game. No fans, no game! Roger can suit up next season and play 18 games. If the players want 16, then 16 it is.
