Rock Strikes Windshield Of Firefighter Responding To Accident

REPUBLIC (KDKA) -- State police are looking for two men who threw a rock at an assistant fire chief's truck while he was responding to a call.

John Torok, 31, has been with the Allison No. 1 fire department in Redstone Township for 11 years. He was headed to the scene of a serious crash last night, with his emergency lights activated, when two men threw a rock at his windshield.

Torok stopped to see if he could see the men, but then continued on to the accident. It happened on Route 166 in Republic.

Torok wasn't injured and the damage to his truck was minimal, but he wants people to know that this is serious and cost him time on his way to the accident.

The accident was a rollover and a man was trapped in a vehicle. He had to be flown to a West Virginia hospital.

State police say this fortunately wasn't a tragic situation, but it could have been.

The suspects are described as two men in their 20's, about 5-feet 10-inches tall with a thin build. They were wearing Carhartt jackets at the time.
