PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark joined The FAN Morning Show live in the studio to recap the Steelers’ loss in Super Bowl XLV.
Clark continues to look back on the game and wonders what would have happened if he and the Steelers made plays. Despite the loss, it has motivated him to start his offseason work earlier than normal.
Clark said his confidence was “sky-high” when Ben Roethlisberger and the offense had the ball on the 13-yard line with less than two minutes to play in the game.
Clark had family members that were caught up in the ticket scandal at Super Bowl XLV. He thinks it was “part greed” on behalf of the league and Jerry Jones.
Clark is the Steelers’ player representative and said all the offers from the league are “totally ridiculous.” He also said the league and owners have no incentive to work out a deal because they are getting paid by the TV networks even if there is no season next year.
Currently the NFLPA will not accept an 18-game regular season, but Clark said they might have to if the owners do something crazy. He said if there is an 18-game season then fans will not see players like Hines Ward in the future.
Clark and the Steelers’ players have a lot of respect for the Rooney family. He said the Rooney’s are looking out for best interest of the game, not their wallets, and thinks he will come forward to be the “voice of reason” in the CBA negotiations.
