Analyst: Trade Deadline Will Be Difficult For Shero

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - CBS Sports senior NHL writer Wes Goldstein joined the FAN Morning Show to talk about Friday night's fight-filled New York Islanders-Pittsburgh Penguins game and the NHL trade deadline.

Goldstein said the NHL "got it right" with the suspensions of the Islanders and the $100,000 fine.

In his blog, Goldstein said he doesn't disagree with any part of Mario Lemieux's statement, but he thought the hockey legend crossed the line with the comments about his future involvement with the league.

He thinks Lemieux's statement was a cumulative effect of the premeditation from the Islanders, the state of injuries among the Penguins and the hits on Sidney Crosby that went unpunished.

As for the NHL trade deadline, Goldstein said it will be a "very difficult" time for Penguins' general manager Ray Shero.

Shero will have weigh his options depending on the return of Crosby.

One name Goldstein continues to hear linked to the Penguins is Alex Kovalev because of his history with the team.
