Mother Facing Charges In Domestic Dispute, Stabbing

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- A mother is now facing charges and her son is in the hospital following a domestic dispute and stabbing in McKees Rocks Wednesday night.

Police say Alice Campbell is facing charges of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Neighbors say they heard the arguing on Etna Street Wednesday night.

"I heard the noise. I looked out back. Next thing I know… he's on the ground," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified. "Next thing I know, I see one going in an ambulance; the other one going in cuffs."

McKees Rocks police say Campbell, 53, is accused of stabbing her 30-year-old son, James, during a domestic dispute.

"He apparently suffered two stab wounds," said Chief Robert Cifrulak, of the McKees Rocks police. "One to the left shoulder, and a superficial wound to the right shoulder."

According to police, Alice Campbell claimed self defense, saying her son attacked her and his pregnant sister. After investigating, police weren't buying the story.

"The report didn't support that allegation that she acted in self defense," added Chief Cifrulak.

KDKA's Heather Abraham tried to speak with James Campbell's sister at the Etna Street home. She opened the door Thursday morning, but would only say that the fight between her mother and brother was not that bad.

Chief Cifrulak still called this unfortunate.

"Every domestic assault you would like to think is avoidable, but they happen," he said. "When people live together, incidents occur."

James Campbell was last listed in fair condition at Allegheny General Hospital.
