PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — It had its own Facebook page, Twitter account and even its own t-shirt.
For a while, Brett Keisel’s beard seemed to have a life, and a celebrity, all its own.
“I shampoo and condition,” the Steelers defensive end said last month. “I’m looking for a quality company to come through with a beard shampoo and conditioner. I think it’s important. I shampoo and condition and I brush. I brush regularly.”
He even claimed it had magical powers, but they did seem to run out in the Super Bowl.
Now that football season is over, it’s time for perhaps the most famous facial hair in Pittsburgh sports history to be shaved into history.
It will go out in a big way at a charity event later this month.
The “Shear the Beard” event will be held Thursday, Feb. 24, at Diesel Club Lounge.
In addition to the shaving ceremony, there will be live performances by Donnie Iris and the Chris Higbee Project. A $25 donation will get you in the door.
The money raised will go to cancer programs at Children’s Hospital.
