Authorities Break Up Local Burglary Ring

MOON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Six suspects are under arrest, and more than 1,000 charges have been filed in connection with a burglary ring that police say spanned four counties.

Authorities say there were 62 victims, most of them in Moon Township.

The thieves allegedly broke into cars and garages, and are accused of stealing wallets, electronics, golf clubs, weapons and vehicles.

Investigators say two of the suspects were caught in the act, breaking into a car in West Virginia.

"They would be dropped off from a car in a suburban neighborhood and go from driveway to driveway checking cars to find them unlocked," said Chief Leo McCarthy, of the Moon Township Police Department. "It is really a good idea to lock your vehicle up and take valuables out; lock up your house and garage as well."

Police say the thieves usually targeted neighborhoods that were easily accessible by a highway.
