Man Struck By Vehicle, Injured In Wilkinsburg

WILKINSBURG (KDKA) -- A man was struck by a car while walking along a busy Wilkinsburg street Friday night, and officials say the car sped off without stopping.

According to officials with Allegheny County 911, the mishap occurred shortly before 8 p.m. in the 1600-block of Graham Boulevard.

Traffic was detoured around the scene of the accident for more than an hour as Allegheny County Police assisted Wilkinsburg Police in taking measurements, looking for clues and talking to neighbors who might have witnessed something.

Kristie White lives on the street where the accident took place, and while she didn't witnessed the hit and run, she told KDKA-TV she often worries about her family's safety.

The speed limit in the area is 25 miles an hour. White said "there are no sidewalks, and it's really hard to tell if somebody is walking if they don't have reflectors on."
