Dunlap: Spring Training A 'Vastly Different Atmosphere"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist Colin Dunlap joined the FAN Morning Show from Bradenton, Fla. to recap the first week of Spring Training for the Pirates.

Dunlap addresses the heavy question of Pedro Alvarez's weight. He thinks the story is a little overblown, but won't affect his play on the field.

New Pirate manager Clint Hurdle has brought a "vastly different atmosphere" to the organization and Dunlap saw that first-hand this past week.

Hurdle was behind the mound cheering on his players during basic base running drills. Dunlap said, you would never see that last year with John Russell.

Dunlap discusses all the talk around the Pirates pitching staff, including the closer position, middle relief and the back-end of the starting rotation.
