Video Raises Questions Over Whether Worker Was Struck

McKEES ROCKS (KDKA) -- Videotape has surfaced after a man was allegedly hit by a tractor trailer Tuesday while walking a picket line in McKees Rocks.

The video is raising questions about whether the man was actually hit or if he may have staged the incident.

Striking steelworkers at General Wire and Spring say they believe the delivery truck deliberately hit one of their co-workers.

"Our road's a little rough here," said Kevin Merriman, one of the steelworkers. "The truck went forward, our guy went back. That was about the best, the only thing I saw; he was on his back."

However, the plant manager says the truck was barely moving, certainly fast enough to knock someone over.

"The individual who was hit was laying across the grille, and then made a nice, dramatic dive," said Michael Silverman, the plant's general manager. "I'm sure Greg Louganis wouldn't have given it points, but it speaks for itself."

The man who fell is said to have a mild concussion.

Meanwhile, police say they are investigating.
