Steelers Sign Woodley To One-Year Deal
Pittsburgh (KDKA/AP) - The Steelers signed linebacker LaMarr Woodley to a one-year deal after placing the franchise tag on him earlier this month.
By placing the franchise tag on Woodley, the Steelers have to pay him an average salary of the top five salaries at his position.
The 26-year-old was making $550,000 in the final year of his rookie contract. Next season, however, he'll stand to make more than $10 million. The Steelers could also sign him to a long-term contract.
Woodley recorded 50 tackles, 10 sacks and two interceptions last season. He has 39 sacks and seven forced fumbles in his career.
