Brett Keisel Shears The Beard

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Brett Keisel's famous beard is now history.

The beard took on a life of its own during the Steelers' playoff run with a t-shirt, Twitter account and two Facebook fan pages.

Keisel had it shaved off during a charity event at Diesel Club Lounge on Pittsburgh's South Side.

The money will support cancer programs at Children's Hospital.

"This money will help kids right away, but we also have outstanding research that this money will help fund cures and treatment protocols for kids years from now," Chris Gessner, president of Children's Hospital, said.

Art Rooney, II, was one of the celebrity barbers, along with his teammates, including Hines Ward.

Once it was shaved off, Keisel looked like a new man.

"I feel like I'm 15 again, you know, it's been a long time since I've had this look," he said.

About 400 fans were there for shearing.

Keisel says the beard will be back, but he's not saying when.
