Ward Joining Cast Of 'Dancing With The Stars'

PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) - Two-time Super Bowl champ,  Super Bowl XL MVP and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward will be joining the cast of "Dancing with the Stars."

Back in early February, Ward underwent surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb and cartilage damage in his left knee. He was playing with both injuries nearly all season.

Ward hurt his left knee in training camp and suffered the torn thumb ligament in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans.

Now he will test those injuries during the 12th season of the show.

It's not the first time "Dancing with the Stars" has seen a current or former NFL player. The list of current and former NFL players include: Chad Ochocinco, Emmit Smith, Kurt Warner, Michael Irvin, Lawrence Taylor, Warren Sapp, Jason Taylor and Jerry Rice.

Joining Ward on the cast will be actress Kirstie Alley; professional wrestler Chris Jericho; "Loveline" radio show co-host Mike Catherwood; one-time rap prodigy Romeo (former Lil' Romeo); Chelsea Kane of Disney Channel's "Jonas"; talk show host Wendy Williams; reality star Kendra Wilkinson; boxer Sugar Ray Leonard, model Petra Nemcova and actor Ralph Macchio.
