Funeral Held For Slain Penn Hills Man

EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) -- Family and friends gathered Saturday in East Liberty to mourn the loss of a young man from Penn Hills who was murdered last month.

Funeral services were held for 23-year-old William King at the Mount Ararat Baptist Church this morning.

King's body was found in a wooded area off of Hulton Road in Plum. He had been dismembered.

The discovery was made several days after King was reported missing.

In the weeks since his death, the community has pulled together to both remember King and help his family.

At the Walgreen's in Penn Hills where he worked, King's co-workers collected money for his family and placed a large photo of him in the store. Also, a memorial spaghetti dinner was held as a fundraiser for his family.

"He was just a loving person. When he came into a room, he lit up the room; everyone loved him. He will be truly missed," said Renee Freeman, King's cousin. "We will always remember him in our heart, but we won't hold no grudges. We forgive everyone, and we're just going to keep on moving on."

Vito Pelino, 25, of Penn Hills, has been charged with homicide in the case. A second man was charged with helping dispose of King's body.
