Dixon Happy To See His Players Receive Big East Awards

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt Panthers men's basketball head coach, Jamie Dixon joined the FAN Morning Show to talk about his team clinched the Big East regular season title.

Dixon said, in his old age Senior Day has become less emotional.

Over the years, Dixon has come to realize that his senior's career won't end after the season, as they go on to play in the NBA or return to Pittsburgh and become involved with the program.

With the Big East regular season behind him, Dixon and the Panthers return to practice to prepare for the Big East Tournament. Dixon said his team will be working on the mental aspect of the game as well as "cutting down turnovers."

Dixon is happy to see his players receive first and second-team honors in the Big East, but doesn't think Ashton Gibbs or Brad Wanamaker will receive the MVP/Player of the Year Award because both players have been "dividing up votes" for that award.

Dixon doesn't think Gary McGhee will get the Most Improved Player award in the Big East, but he hopes McGhee gets the Best Defensive Player award.
