Man Killed By Falling Tree In Rostraver

ROSTRAVER (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County man died in a freak accident Sunday afternoon.

Milton Lebe, 44, of Fayette City, was killed by a falling tree in the 200-block of Nichols Hill Road in Rostraver.

He was a Fayette City volunteer firefighter. Members of the fire department are coping with his passing.

"Anytime you get news like this, you're never prepared for it," Fire Chief James Eley said. "Young person, still a lot of life ahead of him."

Lebe was cutting firewood on his girlfriend's farm around 2:30 p.m. His girlfriend was unable to reach him on his cell phone and called police when she discovered the body.

The Westmoreland County Coroner said a 50 – to 55-foot tree accidentally came down on him.

Lebe had been with the department for 10 years. Friends described him as well-liked, easy going and always willing to help.

"He was the type of guy that he would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him to do something," Eley said. "Anytime something needed done with one of the trucks, you called him, he'd drop whatever he was doing, he came down and took care of it."
