Man On The Run Found Smoking Cigarette In Bathroom Ceiling

SOUTHWEST GREENSBURG (KDKA) -- A Westmoreland County office building was on lockdown for nearly two hours while police looked for a man on the run.

It all began sometime around 11 a.m. when Ronald Block stopped at the BP Gas Station on South Main Street in Southwest Greensburg to put gas in a stolen car.

He didn't have the money to pay, so he left his license and the stolen vehicle there while he went to get cash. When he returned, police tried to arrest him and an altercation began.

Block ended up running across the street and into Wellington Square, a four-story office building.

Michael Philopena, of the Vacation Station travel agency, says when he left to get lunch there were police everywhere.

Police were eventually led to a fourth floor men's restroom after someone reported smelling cigarette smoke. That's when police realized that the suspect had climbed onto a sink and into the ceiling, where he was smoking a cigarette.

A Southwest Greensburg police officer crawled into the ceiling after him and he was taken into custody.

Charges are expected to be filed sometime Wednesday.
