PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Pitt Athletic Director Steve Pederson said receiving a No. 1 seed for the tournament is “terrific for the program, terrific for our players and coaches.”

Pederson was expecting a No. 1 seed in the tournament because Pitt won the toughest conference this season.

In all, 11 of the 16 Big East teams made it into the tournament and Pederson told Colony that winning the regular season title makes that more significant.

Obviously, Pederson has high expectations for the team heading into the tournament and thinks the team will “do extremely well.”
