Shooting Victim Found Dead In McKeesport Home

McKEESPORT (KDKA) -- Police continue to investigate after the victim of a deadly shooting was found in McKeesport.

Authorities say the man was found in a home in the 1700-block of Butler Street. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

Residents there say they live in a working class neighborhood where people look out for each other.

The victim has been identified as 49-year-old William Perry.

Officials say it was a neighbor - who was delivering food to another resident - that discovered the man's body early Sunday evening.

"I already told my daughter, don't answer the door; or just say, 'Who is it?' But don't open it," said Danielle Burnett, a neighbor. "Don't open up the door."

Police continue to investigate how and when the victim was shot.

"It's scary to think they were lying in the house and we didn't know anything about it," said Nicole Marshman, another neighbor.

At least one person in the general area heard something suspicious on Saturday, but right now it's not clear if there's a connection.

"It was around nine o'clock I heard the gunshot, but I didn't think nothing about it," said Burnett. "I stayed in my bed. I never moved, and then I heard this."
