PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –Jamie Dixon has been named National Coach of the Year by The Sporting News.
Despite Pitt’s early exit from the NCAA Tournament after a 71-70 loss to Butler, Dixon led the Panthers (28-6) to the Big East Conference regular season title.
Pitt’s 15-3 record in conference play was a school record, which helped the Panthers secure a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history.
Dixon has been the head coach at Pitt for eight years and has a career record of 216-60.
