HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Emergency management officials in Westmoreland County are assessing the damage caused by two severe storms on Wednesday evening.

Dan Stevens, with Westmoreland County Emergency Management, says that there does not appear to be any fatalities. Most of the injuries have been bumps and bruises.

Officials have set up a command post across the street from Hempfield Area High School which is also dealing with storm damage.

State police have set up a perimeter around the Fort Allen neighborhood to keep out looters. Only the people who live there be allowed in the area.

The Red Cross is on the scene, helping families find shelter. Also, a warming shelter has been set up at the Hempfield Township Municipal Building.

Officials are advising storm victims not to begin cleaning up until the power lines have been secured.
