O'Hara Township Standoff Ends Peacefully

O'HARA TOWNSHIP (KDKA) – A standoff situation in O'Hara Township ended peacefully early Sunday morning.

A man had barricaded himself inside a home in the 300-block of Linwood Drive with his 7-year-old son around midnight.

Police set up inside the neighboring home of Tracy Lewis. According to Lewis, police had guns pointed at the suspect's house.

Lewis called the suspect's wife's cell phone and he answered. He said he was holding his son hostage after an argument with his wife.

He also said he had just lost his job and threatened to commit suicide.

"[He] thought he was facing some jail time and that he didn't want to go to jail. He thought taking his own life was better than going to jail," Lewis said.

There are no reported injuries and his wife and other children left the house before the incident.

After his peaceful surrender around 8 a.m., his son was given over to a grandmother.

The suspect's name has not been released at this time.
